A disc jockey in Grenville South Carolina has been jailed for failure to pay a speeding ticket four years old.  It appears the disc jockey appeared in Court to pay the fine and was subsequently arrested and jailed overnight.  There had been a warrant outstanding for four years.

Speeding tickets fines in Kansas City vary according to the speed, when you pay it and whether the ticket was issued in a construction zone or school zone.

The fine amounts listed below are what you pay to have your ticket amended to a Defective Equipment.  You have to pay the fine amount plus the attorney fee.  NOTE:  This is not a list of fine amounts if you plan to just pay the ticket and get the points.  If you are interested in that amount, you can find out your fine  amount at the Kansas City Municipal Court website.

This is all dependent that this is the FIRST ticket you have had amended in the past twelve months.  Fines go up if this is your second amendment in the past twelve months.

If Shumlin had received that ticket in Kansas City Missouri, I would have been able to keep it off his record and have NO points for $333.50.  That’s $193.50 for the fine & $140 for me.  So be smart unlike Senator Shumlin and take care of your tickets.

Lone Jack Missouir Map

Good news for the citizens of Lone Jack Missouri does not necessarily mean good news for the thousands of drivers who pass through Lone Jack Missouri on 50 Highway.  The residents of Lone Jack have long wanted to fix this dangerous intersection.  But the article states, ” both eastbound and westbound Route 50 will be reduced to one lane through October. Speed limits will be reduced to 45 mph in each direction in the construction zone.”  A construction zone ticket amended to a non-moving is very expensive.  Because Lone Jack has not had any construction zones recently, I am unsure of the exact price for an amendment but my guess is in the $300 – $400 range.  (I am headed out to Lone Jack the 2nd week of May, so I will revise this article once I speak with the Prosecutor).  Lone Jack is already a notorious speed trap – a construction zone will just compound the headaches for those caught speeding in Lone Jack.

If workers are present and the cop writes that on the ticket, then the fine will be $350.  Otherwise it is the normal $175 unless you were going extremely fast.  This is for the fine only and does not include my fee.

Kansas City Construction Zone Tickets are VERY Expensive to get Fixed!

Just in time for  National Zone Awareness Week, Barrell Bob was decimated by vandals.  The picture above is Bob in better days.

The Transportation Development Foundation has declared this week to be Construction Zone Awareness Week.

Kansas City has seen an uptick of construction zones – likely due to stimulus money.  One heinous zone lies on the way from downtown Kansas City to Independence on 70 Highway going East.  It already rightly suffered the speed trap designation and the appearance of the construction barrells compound this reputation.

As an example of the costs associated with a construction zone ticket, Kansas City will amend a construction zone ticket for a whopping $438.50 fine.  That does not include the attorney fee!  The cops are targeting drivers along this way so speeder beware.

Uhh Officer, How Much is This Going to Cost Me?

Many times, my clients ask if I offer a payment plan.  Generally no – but if your ticket is in Kansas City, then you are in luck.  In most cases (not all) and in most courtrooms, the Judge will allow you time to pay your fine.  The time will vary from 30 -90 days.  We handle those tickets in the following way.

1. Pay the Attorney Fee.
2. I set up a court date & a court time (generally on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m).
3. You meet me at Court and we ask the Judge for time to pay.
4. You fill out paperwork agreeing to pay the amount by a certain date.  You have the option of bringing the money down in person or sending it via mail.

It is handy for people that cant’ come up with the full amount right away.  I encourage people to pay it off right away as that is a bill you don’t want to linger.

I remember hearing about Trapster about two years ago.  I was an iphone owner and a traffic ticket attorney so it seemed like the perfect download.  It was clunky at that time and it didn’t become part of my routine.

Khloe Kardashian was issued a speeding ticket in 2003 which she failed to pay.  In turn, a warrant for her arrest was issued.   Yesterday, February 2nd, she appeared in Court with her attorney to have the warrant pulled and paid a fine.
